I set high standards, provided the support and delivered a constructive and rewarding environment that encouraged success and growth.Key achievements:► Appointed to develop a research programme in Asymmetric Catalysis; to provide knowledge to the scientific community; and to develop and administer a world-class research group of up to 10 scientists.► Raised €7.5m in funding from ICIQ, Governmental Research Councils and globally operating industries by writing the proposals and negotiating the contracts.► Invited to deliver ca. 75 Lectures at a variety of Global Universities as well as at a number of International Conferences attended by academics and industry delegates to share information on the research projects.► Supervised and mentored ca. 25 PhD and Master Students to achieve their qualifications and to write their theses on catalytic organic synthesis by providing support, interpreting information and solving problems.Other achievements:► Consultant to numerous companies advising on the chemical and technical aspects of fine chemical preparation for the agrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors.► Developed new and patent free organocatalytic systems that efficiently mediate the epoxidation of unfunctionalized alkenes by using sustainable reagents and metal-free reaction conditions.► Developed synthetic methods for efficient enantioselective hydrogenations of structurally diverse substrates by establishing a research plan, developing a scientific process, designing and supervising experiments and analysing the results.► Designed supramolecular catalysts with a distal regulation site and subsequently explored their catalytic properties in asymmetric transformations.► Registered three patent-families for the process for preparing carbamates from CO-containing benign reagents. Promoted to oversee the preparation of compounds for internal customers in relation to chemicals, agrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals and to manage a team of seven technicians to conduct R&D activities.► Built strategic relationships across the company and delivered custom synthesis (up to 0.2kg of ca. 600 synthetic intermediates of products of interest for several BAYER divisions) fulfilling ISO 9001 guidelines.► Produced Internal Reports by describing the research and development activities conducted and providing conclusions with a focus on clarity and strategic communication.► Developed the process for the production of an agrochemical by formulating 50gram and 2kg batches prior to moving into the pilot plant and then full production by identifying the crucial parameters for production.► Developed the process and delivered 5kgs of an intermediate compound in the preparation of a pharmaceutical by identifying the optimal parameters in the synthesis and process for its preparation.
