ECHO was a great chance for me to return to my roots on a family-owned farm. After seeing the opportunities in the hemp space, I've developed a real appreciation for the hard work required to successfully navigate the inconsistencies and contradictions in federal regulations, overcome the reticence of traditional farming to embrace hemp, and manage the day-to-day of a full-service hemp operation. Great folks at ECHO and I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve them.

FLOWatch was an interesting company in the water sector with a valuable niche product. I was brought in at the board's request but it was a little too late to bring about the changes the company needed to thrive in a very narrow market space. Nonetheless, great people to work with and I enjoyed the opportunity.

Red Robot was a marketing consultancy founded by Tom Flanagan - a true visionary in the space where media, brands, and marketing intersect. Red Robot bought Inceptive in 2004 and I was fortunate to fill the General Manager role for two years.

Inceptive was my first consulting company and we focused on technology and shifting the consulting equation to give consultants a bigger slice of the pie by eliminating sales and recruiting personnel. It was an interesting concept and I learned a lot putting it together and watching it run. I still believe that consultants and clients are better off when transparency over billing rates, pay, and benefits is the rule and not the exception, but companies who don't believe that are still in business and Inceptive is just a fond memory.

First Allied bought D.E. Frey (a Denver-based independent securities broker-dealer) in a transaction to prevent Frey's bankruptcy over NASD net capital violations. I was consulting with D.E. Frey and was one of the few guys not running around with their hair on fire during the NASD intervention... as a result, First Allied gave me a shot as a COO of the former Frey organization. Great company to work with and after the Denver Division was absorbed into the organization in San Diego, I moved to take over the role of CEO of Pacific Financial Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of First Allied.
