Clinical Advisor Paramedic (Ecas)

Current

London, England, United Kingdom

I returned to the LAS Clinical Hub (CHUB) on a permanent basis following my participation in the NHS England commissioned pilot of C2 Validation that initially took place with London Ambulance Service (LAS) and West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS). This involved performing Enhanced Clinical Assessments of Category 2 calls including potential strokes, heart attacks, high acuity falls, acute haemorrhages and sepsis. Due to the pilot's success, this model was enrolled nationally across all ambulance services.I am now a fully trained Clinical Advisor working within the CHUB's Hear and Treat service made up of experienced Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors and Occupational Therapists. In this role I perform telephone triage (including video assessments via GoodSAM), provide clinical advice and management instructions remotely, and refer patients to a wide range of services using ACPs (Alternative Care Pathways). This can be for all types of calls including C2, C3, C4, C5 calls, HCP referrals, and IFT (Inter-Facility Transfer) calls.Since returning to CHUB I have been involved in the rollout of a new dispatch model within CHUB in late 2023. We have expanded the number of Clinical Advisors in CHUB, and developing a new sector based model that will enable LAS to respond to areas of higher demand more effectively.
