Benedict Christopher Paul, Phd Email and Phone Number
I began my career as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, trained at the renowned Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, where I discovered a passion for medical research that led me to pursue a Master’s in Biotechnology and a PhD in Breast Cancer. Alongside my academic and professional journey in healthcare, I developed an early fascination with computers and pursued formal education in programming through various certifications and diplomas. I learned languages like FoxPro, Visual Basic, and SQL, enabling me to create software solutions that sparked my interest in computational applications in healthcare. My PhD work focused on computational biology, specifically analyzing molecular interactions of phytocompounds as potential aromatase inhibitors for breast cancer. This experience underscored the importance of data, steering me toward Data Science. Transitioning to biomedical data science, I mastered R programming, which opened new avenues in data-driven healthcare research. In a recent microbiome project, I analyzed the presence of Fusobacterium nucleatum in breast cancer patients, identifying a significant correlation between the microorganism and disease progression. This work, presented at the International Biology Conference in Vietnam, earned second prize. I also collaborated with the Department of Clinical Virology, Christian Medical College, Vellore, to study Hepatitis B mutations in acute and chronic cases.Driven to expand my skill set, I’ve been delving into Machine Learning, aiming to apply it to diagnostic and therapeutic advancements. Teaching BSc and MSc students is also deeply rewarding, as I focus on shaping them into critical thinkers and compassionate scientists, contributing to the growth of both the institution and the field of science.

Research ScholarVellore Institute Of Technology Nov 2004 - Aug 2007Vellore, Tamil Nadu, IndiaMy research focused on the Characterization of HLA-DR alleles and in vitro effects of anti-inflammatory agents in clinical cases of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis from South India. This study involved analyzing specific HLA-DR alleles in affected individuals to understand their genetic predisposition. Additionally, the research evaluated the efficacy of various anti-inflammatory agents on cultured cells, aiming to identify potential therapeutic strategies for managing juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in this demographic. -
