I served as an Associate Professor in Physics. In addition to teaching responsibilities, I supervised administrative tasks like federal grant oversight, undergraduate research, and served on several President-appointed committees and advisory panels. My undergraduate research focused on environmental science and microscopy. In 2017, I was awarded best presentation at the Shaw University Faculty Research Symposium for my poster presentation titled “Environmental Impacts of Microparticles”.

I served as Director of the Nanotechnology Education Program and Assistant Professor at DCC. I established a program in nanotechnology education that focused on enhancing continuing education opportunities for all students. In addition, I also worked closely with local businesses to create articulation agreements to support business’ needs for continuing education and training.

As a research assistant, I developed a scanning probe detection system for characterization of nanoscale materials and molecular electronics called Split-tip Scanning Capacitance Microscopy (SSCM). Key Accomplishments:- Developed split-tip near-field probe as electrode and application in Near-field Scanning Optical Microscopy (NSOM)- Designed and tested an optical detection system and precision bridge-based sensor system - Designed a precision holder for mechanical and electronic connection to the split-tip near-field probe- Completed capacitance modeling for split-tip probe/nanostructure interaction- Constructed Near-field Scanning Optical Microscope system- Developed a process for fabrication development of reproducible, etched optical probes for NSOM- Modeled and tested the use of the nonlinear tapping interaction for increasing the speed and performance of lateral force feedback in near-field scanning optical microscopy
