Dr Bilal Philips is a globally renowned Islamic scholar. He converted to Islam in the early ’70s and went on to study at the prestigious Islamic University of Madinah. Upon graduating with a BA (Hons), he obtained a MA from King Saud University in Riyadh, and a PhD in Islamic Theology from the University of Wales, UK (1993). Dr Bilal spent a decade teaching Islamic studies in an Islamic high school in Riyadh, and another 18 years formally lecturing in Arabic and Islamic studies in the American University in Dubai, Preston University, Ajman (UAE), the Islamic Studies Academy in Doha, Qatar, Knowledge International University of Riyadh, and in 2009 he founded and ran the first accredited Islamic University in India, Preston International College, Chennai. Dr Bilal Philips has written, translated and commented on over 50 published books on various Islamic topics. He has also presented Islamic programs on multiple Islamic TV Channels from across the world. One of his greatest achievements, and the one for which he was listed in the “The 500 Most Influential Muslims” publication, is his historic founding of a mega-university from Doha, Qatar, the Islamic Online University, now known as the International Open University, which, since its inception in 2010, has over 650,000 students registered from 228 different countries around the world!
