Dr. Kamkar is the inventor of the patented technology called APD Tester, used to evaluate pupillary responses and detect and quantify positive afferent pupillary defects (APD). He is a consultant for the Good-lite Company, which manufactures and markets this portable device. Dr. Kamkar is active in performing medical-legal evaluations for ocular disabilities. Dr. Kamkar is also part of the Flying Samaritans, traveling to Mexico and providing free eye care and eyeglasses for those in need.
