In my role as assistant principal for curriculum I served a student population of 1700, and a 130 member faculty and staff population. My responsibilities included: organizing the school wide curriculum structure and building the master schedule, coordinating all course registration processes, student information coordinator, FTE reporting, supervision of the student services departments, supervision and support person for the guidance and counseling department, serving as the administrator for 600 students in grades 11 and 12, organize and coordinate all after school course and credit recovery programs (Creekside High School Success Academy), collaboratively coordinate the spring commencement exercises and provided support, supervision and evaluations for social studies, visual arts, performing arts, career technical and agricultural education, physical education and world language teachers. Accomplishments Include: Collaboratively improved the school's graduation rate from 43% to 77% in a three year period - Drastically reduced the number of students who were not scheduled at the start of school over a three year period - Created the Creekside High School "Success Academy" credit and course recovery program - Significantly reduced the number of student course failures school wide - Successfully executed commencement exercises collaboratively with the guidance department and senior advisors - Improved the attendance intervention process.

In this dual role, I assisted two principals with the general supervision of two schools that were housed in one physical plant with an 800 student body population and 85 faculty and staff members. Provided instructional supervision and support for teachers across grade levels in various content areas. Served as the administrator tasked with student discipline, transportation and the development and implementation of community and parent engagement initiatives. Accomplishments Include: Created the school wide master schedule at the high school - Streamlined the school bus transportation between the two schools and reorganized the instructional day to maximize on instructional outcomes, after school learning opportunities, extracurricular activities and community service - Improved the school wide uniform policy and student code of conduct significantly reducing disciplinary issues - Developed an effective framework for parental and community involvement in the elementary and high schools - Implemented a school wide behavior intervention plan that reduced the number of disciplinary referrals - Founded and chartered the elementary school's National Elementary Honor Society and the high school’s National Honor Society in 2012 - Organized and implemented the high school’s out of state college tour.

During this year long period, I committed to full time doctoral study at Georgia Southern University to complete course work, comprehensive examinations, initiate dissertation research and progress in the area of professional networking.

In my role as Director of Choral Activities at Carver School of the Arts, I delivered choral music instruction to students in grades 9 – 12. Organized and implemented choral music program middle to high school feeder recruitment patterns. Prepared students for community and school concert programs. Prepared students for participation in the Georgia Music Educators Association’s Large Group Performance Evaluations at the state level. Taught additional courses in music theory, ethnic studies and college success.Accomplishments Include: The choral program earned consistent superior (I) and excellent (II) ratings at the Georgia Music Educators Association’s Large Group Performance Evaluations in the performance and sight reading domains - Significantly improved the music proficiency skills across grade levels in the areas of music literacy, sight singing abilities, aural perception, musicianship and choral performance practice selected to be the music director and conductor for the inaugural Atlanta Hawks Holiday Half Time Show All State Choir - During the Years 2006 – 2009 the choral program was selected as the performing ensemble to represent Project GRAD Atlanta at various community and school district venues - In 2009 the choral program produced 75% of the school district’s semi-finalists in the Governors Honors Program Auditions.

In this role I delivered instruction to students in choral music, music business, piano and music appreciation. Prepared students for school performances and prepared students for state level evaluation at the West Tennessee Vocal Music Association’s Performance Evaluation.Accomplishments Include: Students in the choral program earned superior ratings at the West Tennessee Vocal Music Association’s Solo and Ensemble Performance Evaluation - Served as the associate chairman of the West Tennessee Vocal Music Association’s state level show choir evaluation.

During this time in my career I was a full tuition scholarship recipient and graduate teaching assistant in the Center for Black Studies; assigned to teach courses on Racism in American Culture and Hip Hop in America. I was a full time Master of Music Degree in Music Education student in the Northern Illinois University School of Music.

In this role, I delivered instruction in choral music and theatre to students in grades 9 -12. Additional responsibilities included the collaborative teaching and supervision of students in instrumental music grades 9 – 12 as the Assistant Director of Bands.Accomplishments Include: Students in choral music earned an overall rating of III (Good) at the Georgia Music Educators Association’s Large Group Performance Evaluation Festival - The Symphonic Band Program earned consistent superior ratings at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluation’s and second place at the Fed Ex Orange Bowl Marching Band Competition in 2002.
