The focus of Med Like Me was supporting underrepresented minorities including African Americans, Latinx, LGBTQ, and non-traditional people pursue careers in medicine. It was a website where students and learners of all stages could submit questions to us as Black Physicians. We sought to democratize knowledge around how to become a Physician which is traditionally out of reach for minorities. This effort garnered national attention including being featured on NBC Nightly News, The Ellen Degeneres Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show among others.My sister and I retired Med Like Me in 2020 to focus on a more elaborate venture, The Institute for Antiracism in Medicine (IAM). Med Like Me served as the Institute's spiritual predecessor.
