I am a driven higher education administration scholar-practitioner with a commitment to diversity and equity, (under)graduate student retention, and identity development. I am particularly interested in higher education staff and administrator retention, problems of change management, and workplace development. I have a penchant for making data and learning as aesthetically appealing and fun as it is informative. About me:I’m trained in intercultural competence, harm reduction, and data-driven change management that together underscore my professional commitment to continuous improvement through assessment and organizational review. These skills have been honed through years of serving in residential life and housing, campus career centers, and offices of teaching and learning and academic enhancement. Moreover, I’m a national award-winning multiculturally competent presenter of hundreds of workshops and trainings on issues of social justice, career development, and women’s equality (among other topics). My Current Role: I’m currently a tenure-track assistant professor of higher education and student affairs administration where I use my training as a digital visual storyteller, experiences in program management, and commitment to organizational sense of belonging to support the recruitment, retention, and success of students at the University of Vermont. Within and outside this role I leverage my burgeoning national research reputation on issues of social class, HIV/ AIDS amongst college women, first-gen college students, race/ethnicity, career development, and activism. Productivity: I most recently co-edited the latest edition of New Directions for Student Leadership, “Leadership Learning Through Activism."
