Website: thornhill-miller.comB.A. Yale: Ethics, Politics & EconomicsMasters, Harvard: World ReligionsDoctorate, University of Oxford: Experimental PsychologyMy degrees, research, and applied work has always been interdisciplinary, spanning several different fields, but united by grounding in rigorous psychological research and a passion for practical application with impact.I strongly believe that psychology, optimally pursued, should be re-envisioned as a subdiscipline of many other fields, providing tools and perspectives to improve the full range of human processes and interactions in all applied settings.The different topics of my work are united by four principle themes and areas of academic research:• Individual Differences & "Soft Skills" (personality, culture, gender, decision-making, emotional intelligence, leadership, psychometric tests and their construction, etc.)• Creativity & Innovation (identification, measurement, individual & group enhancement)• Psychology of Religion (broadly construed as psychology of culture and meaning making—another important “human factor”—with focuses on fundamentalism, conflict, visionary personalities, and powerful transformative experiences)• Technology and its interaction with human psychology to produce our collective futureIn practice, as a speaker and consultant, I am an interdisciplinary creative problem-solver bringing the resources of several fields and noteworthy institutions to bear on individual, organizational, and public problems—all in the context of my keen interest in technology and other forces shaping the future.I also work in several countries designing bespoke studies and psychometric tests used as the basis to improve self-understanding and group interactions. My talks are combined with workshop exercises aimed at enhancing self-development. Through my background in design, I have also consulted for large scale public monuments and meaning, identity, and community-building projects.
