He completed his primary and higher education in Munich, Germany. He received his specialization from Dokuz Eylul University Neurology Department in 2003. During this time, he carried out research activities on stem cell transplantation, nerve regeneration, and psychopharmacology in Germany and Switzerland. He continued his specialty education in Regensburg and Münster in Germany and the neurology clinics of the University of Zurich in Switzerland. After his specialization, he continued his research activities on programmed cell death and neuroprotection at the molecular and experimental neurology unit of the University of Zurich and then studied clinical psychiatry at the University of Bern in Switzerland. In 2009, he was accepted to the University of Cambridge in the Department of Clinical Neurology and Neural Sciences in England (Prof Baron). He became an Associate Professor of Neurology in 2012. Between 2014-2018, he worked as the Director of the Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Stroke at Istanbul Medipol University International Faculty of Medicine. As of 2018, he was appointed as the head of neurology at the International Medical Faculty Medipol Istanbul. He acted as a Dean of Alanya University Faculty of Medicine between 2018 and 2022, and he is still the Director of Neurology and Clinical Neurosciences at the same faculty. He still works as an editor and referee in many highly impacted scientific journals, such as Lancet-Eclinical Medicine, PlosOne, and Frontiers in Cellular Neurosciences. Furthermore, he also acts as a scientific project consultant, PI, and speaker in many international official scientific institutions and organizations abroad (https://scandibio.com/wpcontent/uploads/2021/07/210720-Press-Release.pdf), and he has many internationally published first-name articles and book chapters (yulug b - Search Results - PubMed (nih.gov). Apart from being a member of many national scientific associations, he was elected as an academy member of the European Stroke Association (ESO) in 2018. His areas of special interest are philosophy and chess. He is fluent in English and German.
