A PhD-educated, qualified chemistry teacher with over 10 years’ teaching experience and over 15 years’ professional experience in academe and industry. Now a successful full-time online tutor, I have delivered over 12,000 hours of one-to-one tuition to students in 22 different countries.My teaching approach builds solid theoretical understanding and problem-solving skills before focusing on exam technique. GCSE, A-Level and IB Diploma examining experience has given me a deep understanding of student misconceptions and how they can be addressed. My students consistently achieve significant grade improvements and on average, 85% get top grades and gain entry to their first-choice university.I enjoyed a successful career in industry as the founder and CEO of a process R&D spin-out company from Newcastle and Durham Universities. Drawing on this experience, I can add value by helping students develop vital vocational and professional skills needed for career success. My industrial experience gives me a unique ability to teach beyond the textbook and show how chemistry is used in the real world, which helps to bring the subject to life for learners.
