The student groups ranged from 50 to 100. The Master's class had 11 students in total. o Provided formative feedback on presentations and essays using a combination of verbal (using in-person meetings) and written feedback (on Moodle and via e-mail). o Proactively carried out other forms of scholarship including work associated with examinations (setting and marking exams and providing constructive feedback to students, moderation of exam scripts, invigilation of exams at university level, taking students for industry tours/visits, going to press meetings), administration, participation in committee work, and the pastoral care of students. o Supervised students on placement in various newsrooms and media organisations across Zimbabwe such as Daily News, Chronicle, including the supervision of undergraduate and master’s students research projects. o Acted as a personal tutor and provided pastoral support to students at undergraduate level. I assisted students, particularly first years acquire access to new forms of knowledge and ushered them into the discipline. As an empathetic teacher, I made sure that I was approachable and always positive so that students felt welcome to share their problems after which I directed them to the head of department or relevant support teams in the university.

I worked as the first Alumni Officer since the university’s establishment in 1991 responsible for the historical evolution and development of the Alumni Office. My roles included re-connecting and re-engaging all NUST Alumni to the university’s current activities and programs. I kept Alumni updated on events at the university including planning reunions, community engagement activities, dinners, mentorship programs, sporting activities and many other functions and events for alumni. I was responsible for updating the Alumni website, creating fliers, brochures and an Alumni newsletter and creating engaging content on various social media platforms. I tutored First year Journalism students at Rhodes University in 2011.The tutoring experience equipped me with teaching skills, assessing students’ work and administrative skills-collating marks, supervising students and marking the register. The subjects I tutored included Introduction to News, Introduction to Media Studies, Narrative and Genre and Introduction to Digital Journalism. My duties included conducting tutorials, facilitating discussions and debate on various topics, marking of assignment and exam scripts, attending lectures and tutorial meetings and being a guide and motivator to students. I also taught students how to write professional emails, how to use social media for example twitter, facebook and blogging for journalistic purposes.Tutorial guidance and support came from the lecturers of the 4 different courses and the Tutor Co-ordinator Nicky Cockcroft whose guidance was very useful throughout the year.

I worked as a Circulation and Research Assistant in the Rhodes University Main and Cory libraries from June 2009 to December 2011. Circulation Assistant duties included checking in and out of books, helping patrons search for books and journals, shelving, doing online reservations and shelf reading. As a research assistant, I worked in the postgraduate research commons providing assistance to postgraduate students (Masters and PhD) on how to search for journal articles online, how to photocopy and scan documents and other forms of work relating to research. I am therefore skilled in all areas of research in any library for all kinds of research.

The jobs entailed organising workshops and doing budget calculations for conference guests including plane tickets, accommodation and travel allowances and answering phone calls in the Highway Africa main office. I also received guests while being in the office.As Workshops Facilitation Officer, I ensured that workshops venue were all set up- including checking all ICT related issues including- internet connection, powerpoint and other materials to be used for the workshops.

I was a journalist at ZIMPAPERS (Chronicle Newspaper). As a journalist, I was mainly interested in investigating and reporting stories that affected ordinary citizens. I investigated and reported on poor health service delivery in public hospitals, in education and in the transport sector, poverty and high costs of living including politics, business and economics. 12 Lead stories and more than 80 articles.

I was employed as an enumerator for ORAP, a non governmental organisation that provides aid to rural communities. The job entailed conducting focus groups with rural based communities, enumeration and evaluating their eligibility to receive aid. I did verification work with verification officers and also played the role of assistant to the supervisor as I led the team when we went to visit rural communities. I am also the one who, at times, addressed the communities we visited and assigned enumerators to groups.

As a teacher at Mpopoma High School, I taught History and Ndebele to form twos and threes. The job included teaching, marking and being a mentor to students.
