Funded by Brazilian & European fruit juice producers, manufacturers and packagers, The Fruit Juice Science Centre aims to communicate the science on fruit juice within a balanced diet. In my role as Science Director, I'm responsible for commissioning and managing scientific research, creating internal and external content, and supporting Europe-wide communications projects on fruit juice.

QMS is the public body responsible for helping the Scottish red meat sector improve its efficiency, sustainability, integrity and profitability and maximise its contribution to Scotland's economy. Our internationally recognised and approved assurance schemes cover over 90% of livestock farmed for red meat in Scotland. With centuries of tradition behind them, Scottish red meat farmers pride themselves on meeting the very highest standards demanded by modern consumers.

Food Standards Scotland (FSS) is responsible for ensuring safe food across Scotland, giving independent advice to the Scottish Government, and helping Scottish people to choose healthier diets. The Board provides FSS with strategic direction, oversight and governance and consists of a Chair and seven members. Dr Ruxton also served as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

The Scottish Food Advisory Committee was set up to advise the Food Standard Agency on the Scottish perspective of food safety, standards and nutrition. Membership is by public appointment. I served on this committee for nearly 7 years before Scotland moved forward with its own agency.
