CurrentWorld Vets is an international veterinary NGO working in collaboration with US and foreign military groups, policy makers, advocacy groups, academic and educational entities and veterinary and medical professionals abroad. World Vets has a strong One Health focus. Our global health programs help animals, people and the communities in which they live. We also provide veterinary support, technical response and urgent care for wild marine mammals in the Pacific Northwest. -World Vets work has spanned 50 countries on 6 continents and provides veterinary aid in developing countries, and disaster relief worldwide. Our work spans many species from dogs and cats to working horses and donkeys to wildlife and marine mammals.- World Vets has a strong focus on capacity building and training veterinarians in developing countries. The World Vets Latin America Veterinary Training Center in Nicaragua trained over 700 Latin American veterinarians in surgery and anesthesia techniques to improve animal welfare and manage street dog populations.-World Vets provides the civilian veterinary component of US Navy civil-military humanitarian aid missions to Latin America, South East Asia and Oceania, which provide medical, dental and veterinary aid in developing regions. In the last 15 years, World Vets has deployed veterinary teams on 14 joint missions with the US Navy, with each mission averaging 5 months in duration. The mission have been primarily based on the USNS Mercy and the USNS Comfort.-World Vets Conservation Medicine Program in the Galápagos Islands working at the critical interface of wildlife populations, domestic animals and humans to help protect the vast biodiversity of the Galápagos Islands.World Vets marine program works to study, protect and conserve marine wildlife, habitats and ecosystems through research, education and service using a conservation medicine approach.
