I specialize in working with elite athletes and professional sports teams across the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB to develop comprehensive sleep optimization programs that integrate sleep education, cutting-edge technology, and applied sleep research. My focus extends to advising Olympic gold medalists, Formula 1 athletes, C-suite executives, and the U.S. military on how to enhance performance through strategic sleep optimization. My journey into sleep science began as an undergraduate at Stanford, where I had the privilege of being mentored by Dr. William C. Dement, the father of modern sleep medicine. Over the past decade, my research has centered on the effects of sleep on both cognitive and physical performance in elite athletes. I investigate how sleep extension, sleep deprivation, and circadian rhythms impact performance outcomes. Recently, I've delved deeper into the critical effects of sleep loss on potentially increasing injury risk.My work and research have been featured in media outlets such as The New York Times, ESPN, NPR, NBC Bay Area, and TIME. One of my projects, the NBA Schedule Alert, in collaboration with ESPN (2016-2019), led to the development of the Mah Score, which accurately predicted NBA team performance based on travel and schedule, with 76-86% accuracy. For more information on sleep science, performance optimization, and my work: follow me on Twitter/Instagram @drcherimah or visit my website at https://www.drcherimah.com.
