As a fellow of the Science to Data Science (S2DS) program, I was assigned to EPRI. Our four-member team's problem statement was to characterize the damage in heat exchangers common in a wide variety of industrial settings using machine learning models. Our group processed multi-dimensional waveform data obtained from eddy current probes that are used to test heat exchangers. Our group practiced agile methodology as we conducted exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, modeling and visual representation of results using Python.We trained regression and decision-tree models that were able to significantly improve the damage assessment by reducing the margin of error by a factor of 2, when compared to industry standards.

Patented a cryogenic memory suitable for quantum computing applications.Helped design a new magnetic material which enables substantially lower switching currents in the high-speed limit.Set up infrastructure for high-speed testing and characterization of magnetic tunnel junctions.

Extensive work on topics related to magnetism, spintronics, device physics and new materials under Dr. Stuart Parkin who was a phenomenal advisor and winner of the Millennium Technology (2014) and King Faisal Prize (2021). Much of it was focused on understanding the generation of spin currents in heavy metals and using that to study a class of magnetic devices based on the motion of magnetic domain walls.Work led to 10 publications in journals such as Nature Physics, Science Advances and Nanoletters.

Worked with Prof. Ramanathan Mahendiran's group on magnetoimpedance materials, which find their use in compasses, accelerometers, biomagnetism among other applications.Developed and automated test systems for broadband( 40Hz-1Ghz) magnetoimpedance and FMR studies of various relevant materials using 4294A, 4285A and E4991a impedance analyzers.Studied various La-based manganites for length, width, temperature, angular and magnetic field dependence of complex impedance for characterizing them for appliactions.

As a part of my training in Dr. Satish Ogale's lab, I learnt about the deposition of thin films and heterostructures using pulsed laser deposition (PLD).

Worked as an intern with Prof. Nathan Newman whose research focuses on thin film growth, dielectrics and superconductivity. Developed an automated measurement system for detecting electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra using a network analyzer and cryogenic system which significantly reduced the measurement time and made it possible to detailed studies on materials of interest.Very high resolution (1 Gauss) field scans were made possible, allowing quantitative measurement of loss tangent of dielectric samples upto 9 Tesla and temperatures ranging from 2 to 400K with greater accuracy and precision than ever before.This work resulted in 2 publications.
