• Setup Telematica Systems Limited as a joint venture with Trafficmaster plc and a business partner from Pro:technical as a telematics design house and consultancy.• Grew development team from 4 to 24 including hardware, embedded software and high level software engineers. Managed performance of the team, invoiced to customers on a daily rate, profitably every year.• Led technical team to innovate and deliver complete product/service solutions for clients including: “Fleetstar Online” – SAAS, GPS/GSM fleet management system (now owned by Masternaut). “Trackstar” – the first GPS/GSM stolen vehicle tracking system.The first commercially deployed ANPR camera network to derive traffic speeds on UK roads (patented).• Selected components and suppliers, from the global market, including manufacturing partners for hardware production and worked with them on site during new product introduction.• Liaised with graphical and product enclosure design houses to deliver ground breaking integrated products optimising form fit and function at a competitive cost.• Devised highly effective data compression techniques for storage and communication of Vehicle Registration Marks (for traffic journey-time monitoring), vehicle event/location data (for fleet management) and navigation guidance (for off-board navigation).• Created very efficient and accurate techniques for bulk map-matching sequences of GPS vehicle locations to identify where journeys went in terms of segments/links in the map data.Having successfully been the main source for product development expertise for Trafficmaster plc, Telematica Systems Limited was taken over to form the core of their in-house capability.

• Complete design, development and introduction to production of a range of low cost, low power, industrial LCD meters, including intrinsically safe products, using ASICs and embedded micro-controllers for UK and US clients with high quality expectations.• Innovation of the first speaking in vehicle traffic congestion warning product “Trafficmate” using very low cost technology from Texas Instruments “Speak and Spell” to do everything.
