After a career in higher-education where I was faculty and the founding executive director of the IDEALS Institute, I am pleased to share I am co-founding a new nonprofit called C-IMPACT. C-IMPACT’s mission is to improve how human services are delivered. Using shared services and collective impact strategies, we aim to partner with other non-profits and governmental agencies to transform human services from siloed sectors into a holistic ecosystem of wrap around benefit to individuals, families, and communities. As part of a collective, C-IMPACT member organizations leverage the thought leadership and operational capacity of the group as a whole and will have additional bandwidth and ability to go after bigger funding opportunities than they otherwise would be able to go after and deliver on by themselves. This allows all of us to help more people, and moves us collectively toward a vision of coordinated, collaborative, and comprehensive benefits for individuals and society alike. Prior to this, I was faculty and the founding executive director of the IDEALS Institute within the Johns Hopkins School of Education, where we sought to positively improve human service systems through implementation science and applied research. In four years, IDEALS grew from $5M to $23M in annual managed funding with a team that expanded from 30 to 91 people. My team developed initiatives such as the Maryland EXCELS QRIS; nationally recognized early childhood workforce registries in Tennessee and Alabama; and helped to shape policy and practice at local, state, and national levels in all aspects that touch the lives of children. Before higher education, I was the principal of the Connections Academy' National School and the Director of Professional Development with the same company; a central office administrator and special educator with Baltimore County Public Schools, and the St. Elizabeth School.I hold my doctorate in Urban School Leadership and Special Education from Johns Hopkins with a Masters of Science in Special Education from the same institution.
