A decorated veteran physician in the United States Army, Dr. Lawrence not only had the experience and background to identify problems in the medical staffing industry, but he also had the passion to develop a company that would provide quality and cost-effective solutions to medical facilities and patients around the world. The acclaim Dr. Lawrence has received as a medical professional and business executive has catapulted LEAP to great heights of success in its 12 years of existence, and the company continues to be recognized as a premiere leader in its industry.

LEAP Foundation DC, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt public charity, was founded in 2009 by Dr. Clayton G. Lawrence to address the unmet social and health needs of the people of the District of Columbia. By providing educational and training opportunities, LEAP’s programs advocate for the health and wellness of community members, deliver services to individuals and families in need, support local organizations in their efforts to improve their community, and provide a stage and voice for those who are overlooked and disregarded. LEAP Foundation DC, through Dr. Lawrence’s active participation in marathon running, has proudly supported the following organizations and their incredible causes: American Cancer Society, St. Jude Foundation, American Red Cross, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Inheritance of Hope Foundation, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Semper Fi Fund, Demand Cures, ING Run for Something Better, Mentor Me India, Kids Run LA, Smile Train, and many more. As a physician athlete, his goals are to protect, promote, and maintain health and well-being and to prevent disease, disability, and death.

Initially seeking a career as a high school biology teacher, Dr. Lawrence obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Master of Arts in Education from New York University. However, after briefly volunteering in the Bellevue Emergency Department, gaining additional exposure in the field of science and becoming fascinated with the adrenaline rush of the chaotic medical environment, Dr. Lawrence quickly changed his career direction. Receiving an Army scholarship to attend the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor in the fall of 1991 would launch Dr. Lawrence’s medical career and lead him to achieve his prominence as a leader in the medical community. Dr. Lawrence has worked in the Pentagon Clinic as a flight surgeon and is a distinguished veteran with international work experience, including successful deployments to the Middle East, Central America, Europe, and Asia to provide direct medical support for a variety of U.S. peacekeeping operations abroad, giving him more than 24 years in surgery, family, and emergency room medicine.
