Working across a wide variety of websites, systems and frameworks, both in client-facing and in-house projects.Currently on secondment to a university as a senior developer/solution architect, building out student enrolment systems as part of a strategic project to support more flexible online learning offerings.Previously: eLearning projects in our Open Knowledge Group, security and productivity tools, bespoke web applications, CMS work.Technologies include: Django, Moodle/Tōtara, Drupal; some Angular, NodeJS and ReactJS.Some automated testing approaches around Behat and CasperJS. Load testing with Locust, and R for data analysis and visualisation.Focus/interest areas:- getting more out of learning management systems with educational data analysis and plugin development- API integration and implementation- institutional repositories- civic technology- training, education and outreach- developing security tools for software configuration management- being an ethical data custodian

* Senior Tutor, guest lecturer and game developer for "EDUC122: Computer Games and Education", Education and Computer Science departments.* Programmer / Web Developer, CrisisStudy project, Natural Hazards Research Centre (NHRC).* Working with Dr. Tim Bell on Computer Science Unplugged, and the Computer Science Field Guide to support New Zealand's Digital Technologies high school curriculum* An interdisciplinary PhD thesis on capturing data from 3D virtual worlds to support teaching and learning. Field research focus in computer science education, but developing tools and approaches more broadly applicable to education analytics across multiple subjects.

Writing focus in: world building and character development, "flavour" fiction.Design focus in: narratology, rules systems / world cohesion and continuity.

My "day job", while also doing various education- and game-related research at the University of Canterbury.While at e2 I developed content management systems for a rapid application development framework and performed systems integration, website development and testing, usability analysis and technology evaluation. I primarily used Java, PHP and Javascript and worked with technologies including: JCR/Jackrabbit, OpenWFE, Spring, SOAP, Wasabi [internal system], Zend Framework and various JS libraries and toolkits (Prototype, Dojo, Ext JS).

Research focus in perceptual user interfaces: collaboration using large-scale multi-touch screen technology. For this purpose I developed a computer vision based infrared multi-touch screen prototype system based on Jun Rekimoto's HoloWall approach.Additional projects:- Multi-touch screen interactives for the New Zealand Pavilion at World Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan (software running ten hours a day for six months across six computers; featured docent-friend calibration and hardware fault detection routines in addition to core functions)- Human pose estimation in binocular realtime motion capture of the Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Exhibition (developed for the Boston Museum of Science with Weta Digital assets)

Work primarily in perl/ASP with some Java/JSP projects.
