As GM/Business Unit Manager for the laser ablation businessI am responsible for delivering a profitable growth strategy for Teledyne Photon Machines (part of Teledyne FLIR) whilst also identifying new technology developments relevant to our company's wider analytical chemistry business. I need to ensure that current products exceed the often challenging requirements of our customers, and on the rare occasions where they do not then I work closely with our product managers and engineers to either identify areas where iterative improvements can be made, or to develop new product to address the latest analytical challenges. Gazing into the future is possibly the most fascinating part of my job. With the help of a talented team of scientists and engineers we manage a number of collaborative ventures with some of the world’s most respected research institutes and organisations in the field of geosciences, environmental regulation and analysis, forensic analysis, biological and pharmaceutical applications, and industrial analysis.
