Thesis Title: Flexible and Semirigid Bis(tridentate) Pyridyl, Pyridyl-Amide and Pyridyl-Carboxylate Ligands and their Metal-Organic Coordination Networks: Crystal Engineering and Catalysis● Designed and synthesized flexible and semirigid bis(tridentate) pyridyl, pyridyl-amide and pyridyl-carboxylate ligands.● Developed new multifunctional organic-inorganic hybrid materials and examined structural diversity by varying parameters such as temperature, organic linker flexibility, and metal centre.● Pioneered the development of MOF-based heterogeneous catalysts for catalyzing organic reactions within the research group. Employed advanced analytical techniques to investigate the reaction mechanisms.● Performed heterogeneous catalysis with synthesised materials for important C-C bond-forming organic transformations such as the Cyanosilylation reaction, Henry reaction, Friedel-Crafts Alkylation reaction, Michael Addition reaction, Tandem reaction (Knoevenagel-Intramolecular cyclization reaction), and Knoevenagel Condensation reaction.● Designed and constructed a cocrystal of a primary amide ligand with theophylline (API), examined the rare amide-pseudo amide hydrogen bonding motif, and discovered crystallographic structural traits.● Crystallographic Expertise: Acquired proficiency in single crystal data collection and refinement, structure solution, disorder modeling, weak interaction study, Hirshfeld surface analysis, topological analysis, void calculation, and presentation of data for publication.● Mentorship: Actively guided and mentored undergraduate students and fellow PhD candidates, assisted them in formulating their own research projects.
