Dr. David Gershan is a primary care physician with over 20 years of experience practicing HIV medicine and family medicine in the San Francisco Bay area. In 1993, he joined the San Mateo Medical Center, where he served as a primary care physician for all patients and those with HIV. During this time, Dr. David Gershan also served as a family practitioner for the Fair Oaks Family Health Center as well as the Daly City Clinic. He currently practices at San Mateo Medical Center’s Daily City Clinic, where he serves as an HIV primary care specialist and at The Sister Mary Philippa Clinic at St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco, CA.A graduate of the University of Maryland, Dr. David Gershan went on to fulfill a three-year premedical curriculum at the University of California, Berkeley. He then studied medicine St. George’s University School of Medicine with a one attachment to medical centers in England before returning to the U.S. to complete a medical internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. From there, Dr. Gershan completed the residency program in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of California, Irvine, before embarking on his career as a physician.Outside of his working life, Dr. David Gershan has volunteered his time to Open Hand, a charitable organization that cooks food for people who are sick and without homes,and to clinics for the homeless He also enjoys traveling, reading, and playing the cello.
