Adjunct Associate Professor Dr David Sly is the Chief Operating Officer of Research at Ear Science. I am an auditory neuroscientist with over 20 years expertise in research and development in hearing diagnostics, therapeutics, hearables and electroacoustics. I am a confident and experienced presenter, mentor of over 50 staff, a skilled writer of funding applications and with advanced programming, database design, statistical analysis and data visualisation skills.My drive is to bring together hearing researchers from across Australia with the shared goal of improving treatments for those dealing with hearing loss. I serve as the institute's research ambassador, collaborating with industry leaders and government bodies, as well as philanthropic organisations, medical research advocacy groups, and universities across Australia.I led the development of Ear Science’s five-year research plan, which outlines the expansion from two research themes to five and in driving research governance, structure, and processes.I am also the lead on the new Hearing Devices and Implants research theme. I also supported the establishment of Ear Science Therapeutics Pty Ltd, the setup of the Ear Science Clinical Research Laboratory at the QEII Medical Centre, and the acquisition of vital research equipment.I supervise several PhD students at Swinburne University of Technology and students at other Universities around Australia.
