With over 19 years of experience in NHS research I am the Head of Research Operations and sponsor representative at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where I oversee the set up and delivery of high-quality research across multiple clinical areas and specialties. I am also an experienced Research Adviser, providing guidance and support to investigators on all aspects of their research including the ethical, regulatory, and quality standards for clinical trials and studies. I have a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Cambridge and a Biochemistry degree from the University of Oxford alongside previous experience at Cancer Research UK and the Wellcome Trust. My core competencies include working closely with investigators, collaborators and funders to plan and design studies that are deliverable within NHS settings, advising and supporting on study development, research and governance requirements and applications, leading research project management teams to deliver studies at all stages and across a range of specialities, developing and implementing research strategies, policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and best practice, and fostering collaborations and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. I am passionate about advancing biomedical research and innovation, improving patient outcomes and experiences, and promoting ethical, responsible and also achievable research involving NHS staff, patients or premises.
