A maths teacher once complained to my mother that I asked too many questions in class. My mother was equally as confused as I was – isn’t that what students should do? Fast forward a couple of decades, and thankfully that curiosity wasn’t quashed! Memories like this motivate me to remain a curious learner, but also to be an empathic educator. I was curious to do a Ph.D., just to see if I could do it. From there, I found myself in an educator’s role, without fully knowing how to transfer knowledge. So, I went on to study how to teach & learn. This was transformative. My lightbulb moment was realising I did not have to know everything. I just had to learn how to point the learner in the right direction! I now enjoy designing and developing engaging content and curriculum, applying appropriate instructional design models, and learning theories. As an award-winning T&L innovation educator, I thrive in the role of igniting curiosity and supporting the learner’s journey. I love designing online programmes and integrating new ed-tech tools into the learning process. I equally appreciate the energy and new insights that emerge in the face-to-face environment. I believe a blended learning approach is optimal. My appetite for learning transfers into my leisure time, practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). As a brown-belt Jiu-Jitsu student, I can testify that I learned more in these past 7 years about myself, my ego, and my ability to persevere, than I ever could have through books, courses, awards, (or maths classes).
