Passionate and student-focused, Associate Dean and Chief Diversity Officer Dwayne Compton, EdD, has over two decades of success collaborating with students, staff, faculty, and community stakeholders to achieve goals. Working in various roles, Dr. Compton has spearheaded multiple diversity & inclusion initiatives at institutions of higher learning such as the University of Louisville and Berea College, building a reputation as a champion of student success, community engagement, career development, and increasing enrollment for underrepresented groups. Working with partners and stakeholders, he has formulated, implemented, and assessed the School of Medicine Community Engagement and Diversity strategic plans, supplied data reporting and assessment training for department liaisons, and led by example to build ties across the institution and within the community. Known for building and maintaining relationships with key decision-makers while allowing faculty and staff to have the tools they need to support student success, Dr. Compton is adept at turning under-producing individuals into teams that work efficiently and exceed all expectations. He is a fierce student advocate with particular focus on issues that impact minoritized racial/ethnic groups, women, the LGBT community, and underserved populations specific to medicine and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. With outstanding communication and conflict resolution skills, he has continually demonstrated the perseverance and coalition-building experience to rally high-performing education professionals around a common goal. His academic qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Leadership from Spalding University, a Master of Education in Counseling & Personal Services, concentration in College Student Personnel from the University of Louisville, and a Bachelor of Science in Technology and Industrial Arts Management from Berea College.He look forward to meeting you!
