- Evaluated and treated patients in an inpatient acute care setting, with dx including stroke, shoulder/hip arthroplasty, CABG, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, COPD, cancer, Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, myasthenia gravis, and cellulitis, with ages ranging between 25-104 y/o.- Secondary dx included dementia, Alzheimer’s, major depression, and schizophrenia.- Treatment modalities included neuromuscular re-education, self-care retraining (within precautions), cognitive retraining, functional transfers/mobility, energy conservation, adaptive equipment training, family education, and therapeutic activities.- Selected appropriate assessments, such as the MoCA, MMT, ROM testing, cognitive functioning, visual-perceptual abilities, and occupational profile, according to medical chart review.- Evaluated need for DME at time of discharge.- Collaborated with medical staff and family members to ensure carryover of skills taught in treatment.- Incorporated patient’s leisure interests with visual scanning techniques for occipital CVA with positive feedback on client-centered treatment.- Delivered in-service presentation on rehab treatment methods for myasthenia gravis.- Exposure to inpatient rehab unit and wound care.
