When you have gases flowing at high rates of speed, a lot of noise is created. Universal AET specializes in acoustical silencers that mitigate this noise to levels acceptable by OSHA. These silencers consist of a shell and a vent silencer sub-assembly, which does the actual sound attenuation. The silencers are generally engineered-to-order, but the company wants to begin to sell standard models in order to decrease the time from quote to sale. I worked with engineering team to model vent silencer sub-assemblies to be used in standard silencer models.In order to decrease the quote time, the company also wanted a configurator to generate quick price estimates depending on the type of ductwork selected. I created a basic configurator in Excel that would estimate the price of ductwork used to attenuate sound coming from turbines.

Madison Gas and Electric is currently doing a pilot study on the feasibility of pay-for-use electric car charging stations in the Madison area. They installed twenty-seven of these stations, and part of my job was to monitor them (both online and through site visits) and report any station errors to management. I also created a tutorial for setting up an account with ChargePoint, which is the company whose software the stations use, and kept track of study participants.Another task I had was to create a basic charging calculator to one day put on the MGE website. Since charging times vary by the make and model of the car, I had to call dealers to find the onboard charging rate for the electric vehicles that we wanted to include.
