As the Patient Benefit Coordinator, I am charged with the development and lead for The Denver Hospice's new department "Coordination of Benefits". In developing Coordination of Benefits I created policies, procedures, and work practices surrounding Medicare, Medicaid, VA, Commercial, and Self Pay pay sources. These work practices ensure minimal to no lost in billing and the protection of Denver Hospice assets. As the team lead my responsibilities areTo ensure best work practices are being executedDivide work load Continuing education to all Denver Hospice Staff membersStay current with changes in the insurance industry both on a federal and state levelReporting and trackingConstant interaction with members at the Director/President levelMaintaining a well rounded positive working environment. I work directly with Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial and VA patients and agencies in coordinating Hospice Benefits, as well as educating staff on the different levels of benefits related to a particular insurance. I work with and manage the Uninsured and Under-insured population in proving financial assistance for Hospice and Palliative Care services. In 2017 I restructured the Financial Assistance Program, creating a more efficient tracking system and constant approval process.

 Acting Community Liaison for case managers, discharge planners and patients.  Senior Advocate for educational outreach to the senior community.  Working with case managers and community liaisons for placing patients in home health.  Building relationships with Hospitalists, Physicians, Case Managers, non-skilled agencies, and outpatient. Community resource for patients that admit to home health and liaison in the transition to outpatient therapy.  Acting Business Developer in partner relations and state resources.
