My role at Stroud Homes Foundation involves supporting a selection of residents at the care home. I am responsible for seven residents, ensuring that their living standards are always kept as high as possible. I meet various key performance indicators in regular reviews of the clients I support to ensure that the clients are satisfied with the care being provided and to ensure retention of clients. In this role I have developed a real understanding of how customers are key to a business’ success. Recently I have taken one of the residents abroad on a one on one holiday. I believe this shows the trust and confidence that my company have in me at a young age.

During this job I was able to participate in several different sides of property renovation. This included more hands on approaches, such as labouring and removal of waste, as well face to face encounters, liaising with suppliers, collecting materials. In this line of work I learnt the importance of successful project management, for example an overrun of a project in turn becomes more expensive, costing the company money.

During this job I was responsible for various roles, but mainly waiting on tables. This taught me how integral presentation and customer service is in a business, being able to employ this affectively meant that the customers had a more enjoyable time at the restaurant. Presentation was not only important for myself but for the food I was taking to the table, in realising this I developed a better communication with kitchen staff and chefs in order to sustain a high standard of presentation throughout.

My role as a labourer led me to be responsible for the needs of the builder I worked for. My main duties included mixing cement; this showed the importance of consistency. If the mix was made differently each time then the cement would be different colours and consistencies making the end product look of poor quality. I also learnt the importance of communication in the workplace. Communication was essential due to the dangerous nature of the work, without communication colleagues and customers could easily get hurt if there was a lapse in the communication. Therefore communication had to be clear and concise.
