As a child on the neurodivergent spectrum, communication was a struggle for me. Since the words that flowed out of my mouth usually failed to convey my feelings, I took to putting my words in writing. I filled countless notebooks with my thoughts and observations, using every communicative misstep as a stepping stone, honing my adaptability and incorporating the lessons I learned into my next writing project.Writing quickly went from a necessity to a hobby, eventually escalating into a full-blown passion. I spent almost all of my time in college participating in writing groups, learning how to communicate my and others' intentions clearly, and coordinating with a team of writers to work towards a common goal.I wasn't sure what I'd end up using my degree for after graduation, especially when COVID-19 hit. My first freelance writing gig at Comic Book Resources.com was something I stumbled into, but it was a life-changing experience. From it and other writing gigs, I've strengthened my literary voice.
