ISD Analytics was acquired by EY in April 2015, with the aim of expanding EY’s enterprise intelligence and analytics capabilities globally. We are now part of EY Australia’s IT Advisory Enterprise Intelligence team, and continue to remain focused on predictive analytics, particularly in areas of human behavior involving significant cognitive and decision making components, such as power consumption and disaster response.

ISD Analytics specialises in predictive analytics using micro-simulation. Our technology can be used to predict, evaluate and compare the impact of policy (and other influences) on human behavior. It delivers the advantages of micro-simulation to business and government and has been applied to prediction of energy and water consumption, community response to bushfires and the impact of electric cars on the power grid infrastructure.

I worked with the UWA Simulation and Modelling Research Group, where I was involved in research and development of wildfire simulation technology. I co-developed AUSTRALIS, a tool for fire emergency services that predicts the spread of fire across a landscape for use in incident management and ‘what-if?’ scenarios.

Working in The Centre for Bioinformatics, Biomarker Discovery & Information-Based Medicine, I was involved in a genome-wide study to discover a genetic basis for susceptibility to multiple sclerosis. Our approach focussed on analysis of transcription factors through the use of non-linear combinatorial models, including hitting set.
