Provides neurorehabilitation consultation to a range of individuals and organizations, including schools, criminal justice settings, acute rehabilitation and long term care settings. Provides neuropsychological assessment services, pediatric neuropsychological consultation, and consultation to attorneys, Federal and Public Defenders on brain functioning in inmates charged or convicted of capital crimes. Provides life care case consultation and expert witness testimony.

Manages the PA data collection on this CDC funded research project awarded to Dr. Angela Ciccia at Case Western Reserve University. Project is evaluating the academic, social, and health outcomes, as well as service utilization of students with TBI in the PA BrainSTEPS Program compared with students who have no formal brain injury school re-entry program

Serves as volunteer Chair of Advanced Practice in NeuroRehab WorkGroup, developing a national certification exam for those with advanced skill and training who are working in the field of NeuroRehabilitation.

Teaches Cognitive Rehabilitation and Neuropathology in the PCOM Psychology Department, as well as teaching in a Post-Doctoral Neuropsychology Certificate Program

Dr. Nagele directed a community-integrated program for individuals with brain injury or other neurological disorders. The program provided a continuum of residential and rehabilitation services for medically stable adults, age 18 or older, who are in need of comprehensive, post-acute supports. Dr. Nagele has a distinguished career in creating and overseeing rehabilitation programs for children, adolescents, and adults with brain injury for several organizations, including the Drucker Brain Injury Center at MossRehab and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dr. Nagele is a leader in the field, currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of America, and Co-Chairing the National Collaborative on Children’s Brain Injury. He was the Founding President of the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania, and is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer for the Academy for the Certification of Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS). Dr. Nagele teaches in the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Post Doctoral Certificate Program in Neuropsychology, and is a frequent speaker on a wide range of topics related to brain injury prevention and rehabilitation around the country. Dr. Nagele received his BS in Psychology from Ursinus College, an MA in Community Psychology from Temple University, and a PsyD in Professional Psychology from Central Michigan University. He is a Licensed Psychologist in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Dr. Nagele has training and experience in Neuropsychology, and has worked for over 27 years in the field of brain injury rehabilitation. His work has included experience in acute rehabilitation as well as in a variety of post acute rehabilitation settings including Day Programs, Community Re-Entry, School Re-Entry, Work Re-Entry, and Clubhouse Programs. Dr. Nagele has developed Supported Employment programs and Affirmative Businesses, as well as many other new service lines and programs for both children and adults who have sustained brain injury. He is a Certified Trainer for the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists (ACBIS). Dr. Nagele was the Founding President of the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania, where he developed a NeuroResource Facilitation service that helps people who have sustained a brain injury to attain access to appropriate services and supports. Dr. Nagele also serves on the Executive Steering Committee of the International Pediatric Rehabilitation Collaborative and on the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of America. In addition, he is frequently called on as a speaker on a wide range of topics related to brain injury prevention and rehabilitation at various venues nationwide.

Responsible for developing rehabilitation services and community-based supports for individuals with acquired brain injury throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. Charged with developing programsthat are individually tailored to help the participant live as independently as possible and enjoy a full and productive life.

Responsible for administrative management of rehabilitation services throughout The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia’s pediatric healthcare network, including provision of rehabilitation to children from birth through 21 at CHOP’s 430 bed Main Campus Hospital including 18 bed acute rehabilitation at Children’s Seashore House, as well as outpatient rehabilitation provided at Main Campus and at 7 Specialty Care Centers located throughout PA and NJ. Responsible for physical and occupational therapy services provided in specialty Programs and Centers including NeuroRehab, Musculoskeletal, Feeding (failure to thrive), Sports Medicine, Cerebral Palsy, Cystic Fibrosis, Pediatric Stroke, Healthy Weight, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorders, and Reflex Neurovascular Dystrophy (complex pain). Generated $26.6 million of gross revenue for rehabilitation services versus $9.2 million direct operating expense, contributing significantly to institutional margin.

Responsible for clinical management of a continuum of outpatient brain injury rehabilitation programs, serving individuals age 13 and older, including day treatment, community re-entry (PA & NJ), supported employment,Clubhouse (PA & NJ), community residential, and affirmative business programs. Worked with school districts developing and implementing Individual Educational Plans. Provided clinical and program management of $5 M of outpatient programs staffed by 40 member transdisciplinary team including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Neuropsychologists, Physiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, Special Educators, Recreation Therapists, and others.
