Drew Simmons is the Engineering Manager of Interoperability at b.well Connected Health. Prior to joining b.well, as Director of Data Engineering at Somatus, he spearheaded high performance, highly scalable end-to-end ELT system design, build, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization for internal and external sources across data lake, data warehouse, and application resources within the MS Azure ecosystem for the industry leader in value-based kidney care. Additionally, he managed technical teams and IT client/vendor relationships across data feed implementations and maintenance using healthcare data standards including HL7/FHIR and X12 EDI, and has led development and adoption of Agile and DevOps best practices, technologies, and culture across Data Engineering team and greater Technology department.Prior to joining Somatus, Drew led data science engagements and business intelligence tool development to drive digital transformation within the Department of Defense at Govini and Deloitte. Additionally, he led quantitative and geospatial analysis to drive executive level decision making on pediatric community health, quality improvement, and clinical pathway initiatives at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He also implemented, maintained, and optimized inpatient EMR systems for multi-hospital health systems throughout Michigan, Missouri, and Wisconsin at Epic Systems.Drew graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with an MS in Health Care Analytics & Information Technology (Highest Distinction), and from the University of Virginia with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. He has previously held a Secret security clearance.
