Drew’s goal was to work closely with an academic research institute that was creating highly impactful research to assist in growing their translational impact. This past summer, Drew did just this with Nobel Laureate Jennifer Doudna’s Innovative Genomics Institute (IGI) by building their two entrepreneurial fellowship programs - Women in Enterprising Science (WIES) and Tory Burch Fellowship Program. These programs built an initial model for the IGI to help translate lab ideas to market. Over the next year they expect to hopefully spin 4 newco’s out of this program. Drew also worked with the UC Berkeley Life Science Entrepreneurship community as a whole connecting resources and developing a better pipeline for Berkeley entrepreneurs to ideate, build, and scale their own ventures by working with Berkeley Haas, Bakar BioEngunity Hub, Berkeley LSEC, QB3 Berkeley, Berkeley Skydeck, among others.

Drew is a Venture Systems Associate at Alix Ventures - a San Francisco based life science fund focused on supporting high potential early stage Life Science startups engineering biology to drive radical advances in human health.

Drew serves as head editor at BIOS Community, overseeing hosting, thought leadership amplification, resource aggregation, event curation, and community building. BIOS’s mission is to bring together innovation minded Life Science professionals who have a passion for the ever evolving early stage startup landscape (30k+ daily newsletter subscribers, 100K+ weekly impressions).Drew hosts podcasts, frontier sciences, and has published over 100 articles on some of the most formative thought leaders in Life Science. Drew has a major focus on academic entrepreneurship in his writing seeking to highlight both the academic prowess and the entrepreneurial talent that lies within the best research institutions (See - BIOS Beaker List, 10/10 Series, Professor Perspective Series, amongst others).

In Boston, Drew has been active in the entrepreneurial ecosystem supporting and finding new methods to connect founders to early stage investors. He worked with TBD Angels, a Boston Angel firm, to create a VC community (300+ angels on platform, the largest & most extensive Angel Database in Boston) for syndication & deal flow collaboration.

For two years, Drew has also been vital in growing the Babson student entrepreneurial community at eTower - Babson’s premier student-run entrepreneurship organization - where he served as Community Manager & Vice President. He led weekly speaker events & entrepreneurial events, such as: ePitch - the largest pitch competition held in Babson and eTower’s history with its largest audience ($100k grand prize & 75k in-person live audience + National Broadcasting), largest fundraising event held for eTower (Raised $110,000), eTower’s Young Entrepreneurs Conference - an intercollegiate conference focused on connecting, inspiring, and furthering entrepreneurially-minded students through speaker events, and specialized networking events (250+ attendees from 8 different universities).

Drew gained extensive operating experience working with breakout healthcare startups: Sympto (Backed by Kleiner Perkins) & Memora (Backed by a16z & Sequoia) gaining experience in business development & customer relations. At Memora, Drew was directly responsible for building out and leading the sales pipeline for orthopedic sales within the company. In the first month of employment, Drew improved sales to clients by 30% and overall. Drew also held appointments in the UI/UX departments helping to improve the backend analytics Memora received and the overall improvements to the NLP platform. During the first months of the pandemic, Drew also co-created the COVID-19 virtual check in and screening plan & platform.

At Sympto, as employee #4, Drew accelerated sales by 100% in just 2 months and led the UI/UX improvement systems through patient user testing platforms.
