Operated and maintained belt press used to obtain dry grains from bourbon stillage to be used as cattle feed. Assisted in training of new operators as production expanded. Performed a variety of lab tasks as needed to assist with eventual large scale production of xylose. Lab tasks included things such as running hydrolysis reactions on a variety of biomass, measuring of suspended solids in waste water, concentration of hydrolysate with rotary evaporator, and HPLC to find concentration of extracted sugars.

Investigated the affect of various concentrations of kappa and iota carrageenan on whey protein stabilized fish oil-in-water emulsions. Prepared samples and studied the changes in oxidative stability, particle size, zeta potential, and viscosity over time. Regularly used and maintained lab equipment, organized lab schedule, maintained detailed lab records, trained other students, and made weekly reports to Dr. Khouryieh. Created SOPs as new lab procedures were implemented. Presented research at the 2019 ACS conference in Orlando, Florida. Wrote abstract for submission to conference.
