The Financial Advisory business unit at FNB is aimed at wealth creation, wealth management and risk management for the banks clients by using either Link Investments or Life Assurance products to cater for the financial needs of individuals and legal entities.To achieve this goal, the business unit is using a third-party investment solutions platform to capture/import our client’s investment and risk product information and to perform needs analysis using financial tools provided by the software platform. We are working in conjunction with an external software vendor to deliver a software platform that conforms to FNBs business needs.My current role within the financial advisory team is:• To mentor team members in the business analysis field, growing the team into a more well-rounded group of analysts and testers. This involves reviewing all analysis work completed within an iteration, and guiding the analysts to ensure quality analysis is produced• To maintain the product backlog, ensuring requirements are prioritised correctly and are focused on at the correct times to deliver critical items to the business first.• To facilitate backlog grooming, sprint planning and showcase sessions to ensure the team delivers a quality product to the business unit• To prepare Steerco presentations, and facilitate these sessions where needed

My role within the financial advisory team was:• To understand, analyse and specify the requirements that are unique to our business unit compared to the generic software solution• To implement data import solutions using existing integration mechanisms, as well new integration mechanisms unique to the infrastructural environment within the bank• To disseminate my knowledge of the industry amongst the members of the team for them to better understand the industry, and in doing so, the needs of our business from a technical perspective

Bidvest Bank is part of the Bidvest Group. The bank mainly specialises in Foreign Exchange services to travellers and corporate customers. The bank also offers general banking services to its customers.The bank was redesigning its internal application for use at the branches, head office and for other role players within the bank. The aim was to provide a single front-end that can perform all functions relevant to staff at the bank.A separate project team was assigned to the development of this application in conjunction with EOH acting as a consulting agency. The development cycle and project methodology used was a pure Agile approach. My role within the project team was acting as an analyst and product owner for a team consisting of myself, a senior, intermediate and junior developer and a tester.
