Construction Superintendent
CurrentNovel Builders is a general contracting firm that builds exclusively in the commercial market, and they specialize in retail/office, healthcare & school/church projects. After joining the Novel team, I assisted the project manager in completing the Plumber’s & Pipefitter’s office & training facility in Mesquite. That was a design-build ground up, two story, tilt wall project that was roughly 36,000 sq ft. It included everything from offices to classrooms/training rooms to a full welding shop. After the completion of that project, I started my own ground up, one story, tilt wall project in Burleson. It’s a $4MM retail/restaurant shell building that’s roughly 12,000 sq ft. It includes structural steel and metal stud framing, and has a stone/textured paint/nichiha facade. This retail space was built to house a Jason’s Deli, 5 Guys Burger & dental office. Additionally, this project includes pouring roughly 30,000 sq ft of parking lot & drive thru paving and about 100 LF of retaining wall. Project should be completed by the end of April.● Oversee all aspects of the construction process from planning to implementation.● Coordinate and supervise all sub-contractors on-site throughout the construction process from setting property stakes to CO.● Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, city officials, and clients.● Maintain look ahead schedule for upcoming trades and daily log of activities, for future reference, if needed● Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings to ensure the project schedule is maintained and overall quality of work is met.● Conduct weekly safety meetings & toolbox talks with subcontractors to maintain a safe project site● Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers.● Identify and resolve any field issues that could cause schedule delays or negative cost impacts to the budget and process any RFI’s arising from field issues or questions from the subs.
