[The Role]My role at Clemenger was focused on DevOps, Deployments & Web Dev. I provided estimates for projects, worked closely with many producers & was the technical lead for a number of projects. I decided to move on to further my career.[Responsibilities]• Web Development• Server Infrastructure / AWS• Estimates / Scoping• Documentation for developers[Internal projects - Puppet Scripts & Infrastructure as code]I implemented Puppet Scripts for all server builds. I was responsible for creating the process around server builds, the actual scripts & educating devs on how to implement them.[Internal projects - Deployment Scripts]Early on in my employment I automated our deployment process by creating a bash script that utilised rsync & svn. The script takes code changes from trunk and pushes them to the various deployment branches. A special mention needs to be made to Peter Hutchison as he acted as Producer & Q.A for this internal project, and did a fantastic job guiding me throughout. The goals of this script was:• To reduce the chance of developer error• To save time• To achieve consistency• To satisfy business rules (such as keeping a clean trunk, and special rules around production deployments)The result was a script that met the brief, and was immediately implemented in all projects moving forward. It was also praised by fellow developers.[Internal projects - Knowledge-base]I assisted in bringing to life our current knowledge-base. In particular I championed formal processes for developers.I fully documented the process for setting up an AWS account and associated resources (EC2s, Security Groups, Load Balancers, S3, Route53, RDS, CloudFront etc) and provided examples/defaults for each. I comprehensibly covered all areas of setup, including purchase and setup of SSLs, integration with deployment scripts, setup of DNS & Server Builds.
