The job entailed numerous tasks with the priority including ensuring that our guests were provided a seamless vacation. This mean’t providing them with full transportation and bag service to their room and delivering them with anything desired (towels, soaps, information about the area, etc.). Along with the responsibility of the well being of the guests, other tasks including general upkeep of the resort such as emptying trash cans, cleaning chairs on the beach, setting up for events, locking up facilities at closing time, and numerous other small tasks to keep you moving throughout the work day. On occasion, we also worked event staff for weddings and such where we would serve food and drinks. Normal shifts ran for approximately 8 hours, and could start any times between 7:00 am and 3:00pm.

This was the first job I have ever worked. The job started as working the front counter. Responsibilities included taking phone orders, checking people out, packing orders, and other small tasks that aided the well being of the restaurant such as folding pizza boxes, restocking utensils, making salad dressings, etc. After I turned 18, I was promoted to a waiter. As a waiter, my main task was taking care of customers and their every need. I would also assist the telephone personnel when they were too busy to handle all their responsibilities. Along with waiting tables, I also had to make salads, clean and prep tables, fold silverware, and vacuum the entirety of the restaurant at the end of the night. I left this job because my freshman year of college, I went to Western Connecticut State University which was over an hour away from Tolland.
