As a Strategy, Learning, and Evaluation Officer, I supported the Foundation's K-12 Education Program to examine the impact of grant making on children and families. Key work streams include:- Providing ongoing support to the Foundation's K-12 Education Program to execute actionable, measurable grants including daily interaction with K-12 Program staff working in the Foundation's 13 investment sites.- Co-managing annual reviews of progress towards the K-12 Education Program's strategic goals.- Providing evaluation expertise to advocacy and community organizing workgroups.- Actively managing a part of the SLED team's portfolio of research grants. Grants included: evaluating school leadership programs, charter labor markets, and studies of turnaround efforts in Tennessee.- Running RFP efforts and working with external stakeholders to evaluate clusters of grants or strategies within the K-12 Program.- Managing a developmental evaluation of the Foundation's community organizing and engagement portfolio.- Playing an integral role on department and Foundation wide working groups related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and equitable evaluation (EEI).

- Led the annual SCORE Prize effort recognizing top performing schools and districts in Tennessee. Project includes significant work with state and national leaders in education, facilitation of rigorous data analysis, facilitation of objective site visit teams, and execution of an event that draws over 1,000 attendees.- Led SCORE’s annual progress monitoring work that serves as a primary mechanism for SCORE’s understanding of policy implementation in Tennessee. Activities include annual focus groups with teachers, school leaders, and central office staff and the analysis of subsequent information.- Collaborated with SCORE staff to ensure that all SCORE publications are based upon current research and are supported by evidence-based best practices. Topics included teacher evaluation and support, school/district leadership, state and district assessments, and data usage and privacy.

- Analyzed state level policy to inform Michigan lawmakers and the general public about best practices from other states in education reform.- Influenced legislative and policy change on education topics. Recent work includes substantial changes to tenure and evaluation in Michigan.- Responded to quick turnaround requests for data and policy analysis on education topics.- Utilized technological platforms to communicate Education Trust Midwest’s message to the public.- Contributed heavily to Education Trust Midwest publications.- Contributed to efforts on education policy topics in Michigan including educator quality, school choice, charters, cyber schools and education finance.

- Pioneered and organized a statewide network of more than 60 organizations and 35 active champions for Safe Routes to School (SRTS) initiatives in Tennessee.- Fostered positive relationships with organizations previously hostile or uninterested in Safe Routes to School efforts, increasing Tennessee’s SRTS award and obligation rates.- Facilitated statewide stakeholder research on eleven key Safe Routes to School priority policies.- Developed a statewide action plan, based upon stakeholder research, aligning local actors to achieve broad policy change.- Conducted statewide surveys on school siting and health and prepared subsequent data analysis and reports for public and internal use.

- Analyzed needs and developed curriculum on bicycle and pedestrian safety for teachers.- Designed and taught “train the trainers” workshops to 200 local teachers on bike safety curriculum.- Taught bicycle safety classes to 2,000 K-12 youth and community members in Metropolitan Nashville.- Successfully secured grant funding for Walk/Bike Nashville.

- Administered scripted tutoring sessions to 1st grade students in reading. - Analyzed, created and coded databases for a reading comprehension meta-analysis.
