I represent hospitals, health systems, and other healthcare providers nationwide in connection with nondiscrimination compliance, government investigations, and litigation. I do so with a 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒕 𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. Having practiced in this area for years, I draw on leading subject-matter expertise when advising on compliance. And as an experienced civil litigator, I represent health systems in investigations brought by DOJ or HHS OCR, and I also defend healthcare providers in any related litigation. Because these issues are 𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒑𝒆, I monitor daily the regulatory, statutory, and case law developments across the country that may impact my clients’ operations. I also work with a team of healthcare regulatory attorneys to operationalize nondiscrimination compliance in an integrated way across a health system, including in connection with the implementation of healthcare AI. Operationally, I regularly advise healthcare providers on: ✅ Compliance with the Biden Administration’s expanded regulation under Section 1557 of the ACA✅ Making reasonable efforts to identify and mitigate the risk of discrimination in the use of healthcare AI ✅ Providing language assistance services for individuals with Limited English Proficiency✅ Access to individuals with disabilities and effective communication to those with hearing disabilities✅ Promoting culturally competent care and preventing discrimination on the basis of sex, including on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identityIn other parts of my healthcare practice, I represent health systems in False Claims Act disputes, reimbursement matters, and in healthcare IT disputes. I also maintain a robust civil litigation practice, including in connection with franchise disputes, enforcing post-termination non-competes in employment and franchise agreements, in intellectual property disputes, and in complex insurance coverage disputes in the context of mass torts.
