TechWears may have started by accident but since discovering significant opportunities to create positive social and environmental impacts, we now act with purpose in forging the path ahead. TechWears product line of upcycled eco-fashion accessories connects to our inherent interest in technology, inspires youthful creativity in problem solving, and is a symbol of the environmental degradation humans have inflicted on the planet. In a dynamic world of accelerating change, TechWears seeks to create measurable outcomes in the lives of students and environmental restoration. Our growth is driven not by the profit maximizing ways of old, but rather by seeking to maximize our positive social and environmental impacts while remaining profitable. Manufacturing capacities will grow in tandem with the success of our programs in STEM education, or as we like to call it STEAM POWERED EDUCATION. We put a little twist on defining STEAM Education that allows us more opportunity to make measurable impacts. Through these five pillars, TechWears will have the honor of impacting students throughout their educational journey. Blue Star Recyclers exists to create meaningful employment for people with developmental disAbilities through recycling electronics. I was very fortunate to have the Founder and CEO as a friend and mentor throughout college and to then be offered a job with this incredible organization upon graduating. The niche of Blue Star Recyclers is the discovery that a segment of people on the autism spectrum have a knack for disassembling discarded electronics. They have near zero absenteeism, near zero lost time accidents, and near 100% retention. For a job that requires an enormous amount of repetition those are amazing stats! Having now recycled over 10 MILLION pounds of electronics, I remain incredibly proud of the work done by Bill Morris and everyone at Blue Star Recyclers. While at Blue Star Recyclers I came to understand the significance of environmental certifications in the recycling industry. It is a tragic fact that a significant portion of electronic waste sent away for recycling ends up being dumped in developing countries. This is especially true of toxic CRT televisions, which the commodities inside of them are more expensive to extract than they are worth. Blue Star Recyclers was both a e-Steward Certified Electronics Recycler and a Colorado Environmental Leadership Program Gold member. These certifications are very difficult to achieve while remaining profitable and shows the environmental integrity a small non profit recycler is capable of. I remain very thankful for all I learned and participated in while working there.During my time as Director of Business Development with Blue Star Recyclers, I secured key recycling accounts resulting in over 15% growth in recycling volume.

Connecting Chancellor's Leadership Class scholars to the community

As Student Government President of Pikes Peak Community College, I founded the Sustainability Task Force and lead the charge to create the PPCC Sustainability Coordinator position.

Recycling services offered included: demolitions, removal of junk cars, scrap metal, newspapers, plastics, yard debris, unwanted items or anything else. The slogan was: "Haul Anything!" I decided to close my business and return to school for a higher education so I would be better positioned to leverage my strengths. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.
