I have served as an adjunct professor in the Communications Studies Department at the College of New Jersey since 2001. Specifically, I provide classroom instruction and course curriculum development for the undergraduate classes such as Introduction to Communication Theory as well as Strategies of Public Relations. I am able to leverage my community contacts and Council connections to assist students in gaining hands-on experiences in the realm of communications and public relations through internship placement. I have been recognized by students and colleagues alike for my practical approach to education and my unwavering commitment to student success.

I began working at the New Jersey Council of Colleges in 1999 as the Director of Communications. In this role, I am responsible for coordinating all statewide communication campaigns and associated activities, including fundraising for key initiatives in support of the Council’s mission to advance the nineteen community colleges of New Jersey. I have developed and implemented communication strategies that resulted in increased state funding to community colleges by $31 million over a five year period, increased community college construction funding by $200 million, and doubled student enrollment in the NJ STARS program. Additionally, I partnered with key stakeholders in within the organization and the community to raise awareness for Council priorities and secure over $3.5 million in funding for programmatic support. In my capacity as Director of Communications, I also oversee all Council publications for various constituents, ensuring consistency of tone and message and also serve as an advisor to senior leadership on strategic direction from a communications lens.

During my time in graduate school at Rowan University, I served as a Graduate Assistant in the Public Relations Department. In this role, I oversaw the creation of all print materials for the Department including newsletters, press releases, and advertisements. Additionally, I managed a portfolio of special projects in support of departmental initiatives. I also facilitated events and workshops geared towards undergraduate students on communications related topics to raise awareness of the capabilities within the Public Relations Department.

Prior to attending Graduate School, I spent the Summer of 1998 writing for the hospital's bi-weekly newsletter, writing and placing news releases in daily and local newspapers, and coordinating the hospital system's publicity efforts for the annual American Heart Association Heart Walk. I was recruited for this position based on my performance during an internship I held at the hospital's PR and Marketing Department in the Summer of 1997.

Prior to attending Graduate School, I worked as a Public Relations Assistant at Salem Community College. It was this position that really solidified my passion for communications and public relations work. In this role, I leveraged my undergraduate training in marketing and advertising to develop content, oversee print and publication functions, and ensure quality and branding standards. In conjunction with senior leadership, I executed marketing strategies designed to showcase Salem Community College and highlight the school’s competitive advantages. I oversaw the writing, editing, and publication of many print materials and marketing collaterals such as brochures, newsletters, commercials, public service announcements, etc.
