I have hands-on experience in the laser-solid interaction and applications in fabricating in-fiber photonic devices. To meet the demands of miniaturization in telecommunication, I fabricated in-fiber photonic devices that have inherent advantages of low losses and cost, compact size, no alignment issues and easy readout using existing technology. For example, I acquired designing skills to construct, and evaluate in-line fiber optic devices created using the femtosecond laser writing techniques. Also I have hands on experience in developing novel in-line fiber optic devices, which are based on the waveguide structures created inside fibers using the femtosecond lasers. I am experienced in analyzing the waveguide structures using different techniques such as Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and Near-Field Scanning Optical Microscopy (NSOM) to analyze the waveguide structure and improve the quality of waveguide and also in investigating the applications of femtosecond lasers for medical, industrial, telecom, and sensors applications.

Built femtosecond ultrafast laser direct writing setup at Physics department of university of Ottawa* Study and analysis of micro and nano-structured femtosecond laser processed polymers towards application in integrated photonic devices.** Familiarization of Molecular dynamics to investigate the ablation dynamics of polymers with ultrafast lasers, followed by comparison between theoretical studies and experimental results to investigate the ablation dynamics of polymers with ultrafast lasers.*** Fundamental studies of polymers with single and multiple pulses.In-fiber photonic devices and sensors* Comparison of femtosecond laser etched and chemically etched fiber sensors.** In-situ fiber based vibration sensor, that provides details of in-line measurement of frequency and amplitude of vibration.*** In-fiber photonic random lasers towards miniaturization devices, exhibiting comparable charact- eristics with a commercialfiber laser in terms of narrow linewidth and frequency stability.

I performed comparative study of detects of amorphous magnetic semiconductors such as amorphousGd_(x)Si_(1-x) and amorphous MnSi. I used spectroscopy (Electron Paramagnetic Resonance in particular) as a tool to identify these defects in those amorphous magnetic semiconductors.
