About Fernando Mendez

Dr. Luis Fernando Méndez López is a professor of Immunology at the Center for Research in Nutrition and Public Health at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. Fernando completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences working on natural product discovery of anticancer compounds in the School of Chemistry at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in 2019. Professor Méndez was formerly a Research Associate at the Center for Complexity Sciences at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México developing dynamical models for the study of cancer gene regulatory networks and visiting professor at the University of Cagliari in Italy working on cancer and plant metabolomics. Dr. Méndez adopts an integrative theoretical-experimental approach to gain insight into the association between cellular aging, inflammation, and the genesis of chronic diseases. Is a current member of the National System of Researchers and the Mexican Chemical Society.
