I am a Family Medicine physician to my core, maybe even in my DNA these days! After almost 40 years of direct patient care along with numerous state and national level leadership roles, I approach every opportunity as a chance to heal, transform, improve and serve. Continual learning gives me the chance to see big pictures, feed my intellectual curiosity, make strategic impacts and leave the world a better place. Building relationships across many sectors: Public health, public policy, finance, communication, business has fueled my passions to grow, improve health and access for patients and communities. As PA Physician General in the early years, the Governor told me I had 12 million patients! Roughly 18 years on an NBC affiliate allowed me to educate and serve 1-2 million households most days of the week with empowering health information. Later, as President of the American Academy of Family Physicians, I served about 132,000 colleagues who care for many millions of Americans. Looking for ways to positively impact frontline patient care in an enduring, financially responsible AND equitable manner, I served as CMO at VaxCare and, along with an incredible team, opened pathways for patients to again get their vaccines in their medical home from their trusted clinicians.Now, retired from direct patient care, I serve on the boards of companies who look to be transformational, meet critical needs, allow me to learn, lead and grow. Being a Family Medicine physician is an amazing backbone of commitment: caring for the whole patient, the whole community, the whole of a transformational company. I am trained to consider interdependent systems and complex external factors. I have met so many fabulous people along my path! What a privilege!
